Rose exports from Karnatka

Due to volcanic eruptions in Iceland, many flights from India have been cancelled. This had an effect on Rose expotrs from Karnataka. The exports have declined. This has created a problem for all those involved because roses being perishable can not be kept for more than five days. And these roses kept in cold storage for few days are not fit for exports. An early solution to this problem does not seem to be near.

Guest from Holland

Today we had some unusual visitors at our shop. His name is Mr.Henk van Voorbergen. He represents a company from Holland, Dutch Flowerbulb Experience. This company supplies flower bulbs to growers. The growers then produce cut flowers (Gladioli, Irises, Liliums and Tulips) which are sold to florists and these flowers finally reach our homes.
So the journey starts with flower bulbs as we call them. They look like onions and are much different from seeds (It is another thing that seeds and bulbs both produce flowers).

Mr.Henk informed me that they have planted around one lakh Tulip bulbs in Kashmir Valley. This is testing phase. If the crop comes out well, they plan commercial cultivation from next year. The climate of Kashmir is suitable for growing Tulips which needs abundant sunlight as well.
